At our facility in the Kerry valley or Beaudesert, we provide our horses with the best possible opportunity for healthy development, from conception to maturity. We place great importance on each horses' individual needs - from feeding through to training programs - to achieve healthy, balanced horses and satisfied purchasers.

Aveden Sporthorses was established in 1996. Over the past 10 years, a streamlined group of excellent breeding stock has been assembled, producing high quality foals - the eldest group being put under saddle in 2003.

Our breeding program is constantly evolving and improving. Our aim is to bring the best of proven performance bloodlines into an accessible and realistic package for the Australian market - supplying riders from ambitious novice to international professionals. In 2006 we brought Australian performance breeding to a new level, with the importation of 3 State Premium Mares from Germany, to be bred through embryo transfer, whilst campaigned in Dressage.

Our 'quality not quantity' approach allows us to provide a superior standard of mare and foal management. From nutrition through to individualized handling and training to ensure a healthy mind and body for optimal trainability.

All handling and training is carried out solely by Kris & Tia. We do not outsource or use hired hands for the education and development of our horses. We are personally dedicated to every step of the journey for each and every horse: conception - birth - weaning - all handling - backing - training under saddle. Needless to say this is a rare quality.

About Us
Both Kris & Tia began riding in childhood, following a traditional path of pony club and regional competition.

Kris entered the equestrian industry in 1992 as a full time young horse rider and stud assistant for Ulli Klatte for over 3 years. He then trained under the Olympic Jumping Coach, Rod Brown, and traveled alongside Michelle Lang for the '96 World Cup Finals in Europe. Inspired by these experiences, Aveden Stud was established in 1996. Kris has developed a thorough horse mastery on all levels, and is known for his exceptional skills in handling weanlings & breaking & training young horses, a key component for the development of the stock bred at Aveden, and his training services which are in high demand. Now focusing on his passion for Dressage, Kris has been training with A level Judge, Julie-Peterson Smith since 2006, and developing a remarkable team of youngsters, including the imported State Premium Mares.

After graduating, Tia spent time traveling, encountering a broad range of equestrian experience - from jillarooing to polo - later pursuing further involvement in the production of performance horses through Belcam Qld; preparing young auction horses and hands on experience with breeding processes. Tia manages a career in real estate, alongside the administration of the equestrian business, and their 2 children.
